Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.6 Now Available

During Oracle OpenWorld 2016 you can expect that something has to be announced so that we can feel some level of excitement.

For Oracle EBS it is the release of 12.2.6.  According to this blog page:
As a consolidated suite-wide patchset, this RUP includes new features, statutory and regulatory updates, and enhancements for stability, performance, and security.
Release 12.2.6 is cumulative. That means that as well as providing new updates for this release, it also includes updates that were originally made available as one-off patches for earlier 12.2 releases.
Pretty next-to-nothing, automatic template for each release.

I wanted to find out what's new from 12.2.5 to 12.2.6, so I took a look of the Doc ID 2114016.1 - Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.6 Readme.  Well…nothing really interesting.

Okay.  How about Cliff Godwin's presentation -- "Oracle EBS 12.2.6 Highlights" ?

The highlight is that there will be a 12.2.7 (expect to be the final) and 12.3 release.

Other new stuff (functional):

  • Order Management: Recurring Billing
  • Quoting: Document Approvals using Electronic Signatures
  • Warehouse Mgt: Inbound Task Dispatching and Interleaving
  • Inventory: Material Classification
  • Yard: Distributed Yard Management
  • Procurement Command Center (new in 12.2.5, enhanced in 12.2.6)

  • Process Manufacturing: Yield Measurement
  • Project Manufacturing: Landed Cost Support
  • Value Chain Planning: Inventory Policy Planning

  • CHRM: Channel Period Management
  • Payroll: Enhanced Retropay Analysis
  • Time and Labor (OTL): Credit Overtime as Absence Accrual

Okay. Usually I will be asked for this question – should I test this patch?

My answer will be – DO NOT try any RUP Patch unless it has been released for 6 months.

Conclusion:  It's time to try 12.2.5 patch now.
